Tapasya

Tapasya is a member of The Reporters’ Collective, a nonprofit media organization that carries out deep-dive collaborative journalism in India. Tapasya writes about resource governance, its intersection with private interests, and its impact on communities.
For their recent reportage, Tapasya accessed and analyzed government death registries data from across the country to report the excess mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic. This data was then used by researchers at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to assess and verify the trend.
Tapasya has a master's degree in English from Delhi University and is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi. They have written for various media outlets, including The Wire, Article 14, The Morning Context, Newslaundry, and The Third Pole.
