GRANTEE

Karen Shakerdge is an audio journalist who specializes in reporting and editing investigative and serialized podcasts.

Her five-part WNYC series Imminent Danger: One Doctor and a Trail of Injured Women delves into the career of one OB-GYN and takes an in-depth look at the systems in place for vetting doctors and protecting patients. Her award-winning WXXI podcast Exited follows young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they transition out of the school system and figure out what to do next, exploring a moment in time that is often referred to as “the cliff.”

Over the years Shakerdge’s radio stories about medical care and health policy have aired on programs like WHYY’s The Pulse, WBUR’s Here and Now, and NPR’s Morning Edition.
